Hometown Hero

There was a flyer going around Holbrook for a while encouraging people to be "A Hometown Hero - and shop locally."  I always laughed at this because anytime you need something you go to the store and no one EVER has it.  Heck Alco didn't even have the kind of razors I needed one day....really?!?  But I have to say after yesterday my feelings have changed.

I've been feeling kind of overwhelmed and stressed with all the things I need to get for the baby.  Thankfully for awesome family and friends I have received quite a few of the larger items needed at amazing prices.  Also thanks to a friends suggestion Lorin and I decided we needed to buy a Recliner/Rocking chair for our living room, as it would help with the late nights and is a little more comfortable then a regular rocking chair.  We found the perfect one at Wal-Mart.  This little bad boy.

All the reviews praised it and it looks all plush and comfy but after thinking about it for a while the price was a little out of range for us right now....$549.00?!?  I guess it comes with a magical unicorn too!!

So Ive been keeping my eyes open for a nice recliner at a good price, and yesterday I had pretty much decided just not to worry about it right now.  Besides we already have a rocking chair for the nursury and I figured that would be good enough and we could always look at recliners later....

BUT.....when I got the mail yesterday I recieved an Alco flyer with the current sales.  Normally I throw the flyer away but I decided to check it out to see what deals they had and when I opened it up there was this beauty..

A perfect Recliner/Rocker on sale for $199.00 down from $249.00.  I showed Lorin and he said it looked good and we should go to our Alco and see if they had it.  I automatically assumed they wouldn't but we went anyway.  When we got there we went straight to the furniture and what do you know they had it!!  So we both sat in it and pretended what it would be like holding a baby in it and decided it was perfect.  We called the sales lady and told her we wanted it.  She went to the back to get it but they only had the floor model left.  The lady said they could order me one or give me the floor model for another 10% off.......Um yes please!!  So we walked out of Alco yesterday with this chair for $190.00, taxes and all.  We were Hometown Hero's!

**Just a little side note about Alco, I also had to purchase a baby shower gift for a friend yesterday.  I found a cute little outfit for $8.99 which was on sale for $6.42 and I had a coupon for another $3 off.  So I walked out of that store with that outfit for $3.42!  

My faith has been restored!
